Jewelry Box

By Carol Blansett

It was a night such as we all have on occasion when moi pondered concerns and as a result could not wind down to retire for the night. ‘Tomorrow is another workday and I must,’ I reminded myself. In another stalling method I reached for the pastel painted jewelry chest in the bedroom and began to sort through its contents.

“How did these chains get so knotted?” I wondered ~ and immediately answered my own question; of course ~ I had allowed my grandchildren to ‘see’ the shiny baubles last weekend, and as you know they often so innocently ‘see’ with little fingers.

As I worked carefully sorting earrings and working out knots, a thought directly from my Father squarely planted itself in my mind: ‘How patient He is when I allow LIFE to knot the chains of my being! How much He cares to work through them when they seem so impossible to me.’

That thought settled in, nestling ’way down deep ~ to lie there and provide comfort to my soul. How gentle my Father is as He works through my knots to ‘make my path straight’ as promised in His Word ~ more often than I care to recall. How much He cares for you and for me when our weary minds ponder and roam ~ and ponder again. How dear He is to wrap His loving arms around me and love me ~ when I allow Him! I must do my part and He will always do His! The following verse doesn’t say, ‘He may’ or, ‘He probably will’ or, ‘when He has time for you;’ it says, ‘He will!’ Praise His Holy Name! He is my Father. . . and He can be yours, too ~ if you will only allow Him!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
